How to Make Your Bedroom Look Like a Hotel

Whether you are hosting family or friends for a night or a week, knowing how to turn your room into a hotel is a real pleasure. After all, you want to create a warm and inviting retreat that will make your visitors instantly feel relaxed and comfortable.

We all love spending time in a well-prepared luxury hotel, so why not create that hotel atmosphere for your overnight guests? All it takes are smart, elegant solutions that are easy to implement and won’t cost a fortune. So here are some tips to make your room look like a hotel and give them the five star treatment.

1. Clear the clutter

First, get rid of any clutter that takes up space and leave the surfaces clean. More often than not, guest bedrooms can be used as home offices, gyms, or just a dumping ground for excess clothes and “stuff,” so make sure everything is removed.

Also, don’t overload your guest room with excess furniture that will take up space. Make your guest room as minimalist as possible with only essential furniture. These are just the bed, bedside table, storage space, table and a chair/seating area.

2. Provide storage space

Just like a hotel, try to provide plenty of storage space for your guests. That includes an empty wardrobe or drawer for guest clothes, or handy blanket boxes or ottomans like this SONGMICS 43-inch Folding Storage Ottoman ($65, Amazon) which can also be used as a seat.

If you don’t have space for a wardrobe, you can invest in clothes racks like this Untyo Clothes Rack with Wheels ($49, Amazon) or hooks on the back of the door. To add to the hotel experience, you can use satin or padded hangers like this set of padded hangers ($23, Amazon) for that touch of luxury.

3. Luxury bedding

The bed is the most important item when hosting overnight guests, so be sure to invest in one of the best mattresses or best memory foam mattress to give visitors a more comfortable sleep. Moreover, the bed is also the focal point of the room, so embellish it with the best pillows and the best quilts for more comfort.

The general rule is to stick with crisp white bedding for that luxurious hotel look. During the winter months, you can layer your bedding with warm textures like a wool throw or soft cushions.

4. Brighten up bedside tables

Similar to hotels, bedside tables near the bed are a good focal point. Place elegant lamps, vases, candles or even a jug of water in it. You can also add one of your favorite books or magazines in case your guests enjoy a relaxing read. Again, don’t clutter the bedside table because it will look messy. Keep it simple.

5. Mirror, mirror

A full-length mirror in the room is always useful, especially when your guests are getting ready to start their day. But if that’s not possible, a wall mirror can work as long as it’s at eye level. Plus, if you have a compact guest room, full-length or tall mirrors are a great way to open up the space and reflect natural light.

6. Create a spa-like bathroom

Give your bathroom a makeover and make it relaxing for your guests. Make sure you have clean, fluffy towels handy, a selection of toiletries and a hair dryer. Also, it’s best to keep towels and blankets the same color, rather than mismatched. If you don’t want unsightly plastic bottles on display, empty the contents into matching canisters or clear dispensing bottles. You can also add scents such as essential oil diffusers or scented candles to keep it smelling fresh.

7. Select the right window treatments

Depending on how bright your room is, you may want to consider blackout curtains or blinds to provide privacy and darkness for your guests. If you have a small or dark room, make sure all shades are light and neutral in color to brighten the room. The devil is always in the details, even when it comes to styling a bedroom. Lush green plants or a vase of fresh flowers are a great way to bring the outdoors in. You can also add colorful artwork or framed pictures to the walls to add character. And if you really want to impress your guests, you can add a mini fridge like this Cooluli 10L Mini Bedroom Fridge ($79, Amazon) to keep their drinks cold. This will truly give your guests the five star treatment!

How to decorate a small guest room?

If you have a compact room and struggle to fit a standard bed, consider a daybed like this VECELO Classic Metal Daybed ($134, Amazon). A daybed simply unfolds into a bed and turns into a sofa.
