Naples Beach Hotel sells out, ready to be transformed into a Four Seasons luxury resort
The Naples Beach Hotel has seen better days.
But soon, a new owner will transform the hotel into a luxurious Four Seasons resort by the sea.
Earlier this year, the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club agreed to sell the family business, but a lawsuit held it back until Friday, when the sale was closed for $ 362 million.
The luxury complex will have 185 residences and 216 rooms.
“I consider it a big thumbs up and can’t wait for it to start,” said Deno Yiankes, a Naples resident who lives across the street from the hotel.
Neighbor Mary Young is not so enthusiastic.
“There was a commitment to the 18-hole golf course and we’re certainly disappointed that didn’t happen,” Young said.
But Young admits that The Athens Group, the developer of the project, made concessions, such as agreeing to move the resort’s equipment to the middle of the property.
“I think all of us here on S. Gulf Dr. are especially excited to move forward with what the new development will bring to the neighborhood,” Young said.
Real estate agent Greg Economos said the resort will help more people discover Naples.
“When you look at some of the luxury Florida properties on the east coast, I think Naples hits that level,” Economos said. “Having this particular property at this high level of development is going to be very important to the city of Naples and downtown Naples.”
