Sumei Skyline Coast Boutique Hotel / GS Design
Text description provided by the architects. The project is located close to “Skyline Coast”, a popular tourist attraction in Sanya, Hainan, enjoying a vast and open seascape and surrounded by the beautiful sound of crashing waves, which can ease people’s spirits in the sea. immersive blue natural ambiance. The designer offers two interpretations for the structure of the facade of this project in different aspects – for the exteriors, it resembles the waves of the ocean which rise and fall along the shore; For interiors, each peak of the ocean wave encloses an independent frame, showcasing vivid images of the endless blue ocean.
The designer builds the hotel lounge, unlike traditional lounges, in a space that includes reception, seating, photography and afternoon tea. Height differences in the shallow water area further refine the artistic mood – inspired by the winding coastline, the designer transforms the boundary of this area into a multifunctional platform, presenting a rich visual effect layered with the swimming pool and the ocean.
The designer excels at supporting the spatial ambience with a pure white tone to present a strong and specific contrast to the sky, seascape and sunset, ensuring a photographic backdrop for any scene and setting. . “We are working to transform the space into a timely and sophisticated work of art with a long lifespan by adopting this classic color.” Says the designer about the concept.
The blue sky, the vast ocean, the beach and the palm trees are brought together perfectly in the arch-shaped frame, thanks to the precise aesthetic proportion. Walking through the consecutive arch-shaped windows, people are offered a wide view of pure white, enjoying vivid natural scenes all over the area.
In terms of functionality, the B1 floor exists as a bar and infinity pool complex, which respectively open at different times or serve as an ideal venue for pool parties thanks to the free-standing layout with fewer partitions. The swimming pool visually integrates with the boundless ocean and endless blue sky, providing people with a natural experience of swimming freely in the vast ocean.
The champagne bottle style matrix and the gold color complement each other well to beautify the space against such a pure white backdrop. People can enjoy the best sunset anywhere in space by walking, standing, sitting, or even swimming. With a glass of wine, glorious natural lights, and scenes, the romantic vibe of the space deserves every moment.
When people’s view extends from the infinity pool and meets the invisible connection of pure white and blue, it would turn their perception and imagination to the rooftop terrace.
With a wide view on the rooftop terrace overlooking the green hills from afar and taking advantage of the vast and limitless sea nearby, the designer has developed the landscape to the maximum by dividing the space into many aesthetic parameters, including viewing, seats, the hot spring bathing, photography areas, immersion in the atmosphere of Mykonos. The shallow water functions as a mirror of the sky, the stone steps and sunken seating area express the order of space, and the arch installation forms a photographic spot… It provides a relaxing interactive scene and relaxing in such a fusion of nature and art.
The designer deconstructed the art with simple graphic morphemes, represented circles inside the square and overlapped them to form a loop, which ensures a vertically layered vision effect in depth in the area of the hot Springs. The displacement of light and shadow depicts poetry on spatial structure; the silhouette of the waves, the afterglow of the sunset, and the ripples of the thermal spring are all intersections of time and space.
The designer borrowed light to frame the scene to easily explain the aesthetic texture and the relationship between light and shadow. While the window brings waves and sunset to the space, the skylight directly above the bed brings sparkling starlight and further enhances the natural ambiance.
Geometric elements such as circles, semi-circles and squares are each a single frame, which forms a three-dimensional and dramatic aesthetic scale by placing them at the back of the space.
The designer removed the visible doorway in the transition area of the arch to highlight the free and natural structure of the entrance, making people linger in the pure white secret wonderland.
Enjoying the seascape with a clear mind. The designer maximized the introduction of natural light and sea level and created a subtle perception of the landscape from different angles thanks to the difference in height of the different pieces of furniture. When lying on the bed, people can enjoy the sparkling artistic design at any time with their level view of the sea horizon.
People can have a wonderful dream with the icy ocean breeze and the natural sound of the waves. The designer applied perfect proportions to visualize the pure and splendid scene with the frame structure, perfectly allowing people’s imagination to meet the scenery at this time.
Art comes from life and goes beyond life. GS Design excels in exploring and expressing the abundance of minimalist art, and an arch is a stage showcase in this project. All the furniture and bedding in the space are pure white, bringing the texture of the material into dialogue between delicacy and roughness. When light and shadow enter the door, the structural relationship between points, lines and surfaces becomes unique and fun.
Growing darker, the setting sun sank into the sea inch by inch, and the fishing boats scattered in the distance returned. The rare street lamps along the coast light up one by one, intertwining with the afterglow of the sunset and creating a soft and warm ambience, which makes the peaceful atmosphere permeate everywhere in the rooftop terrace. The natural wonderland away from the hustle and bustle, as well as the long-lasting artistic life here, gently inspire people’s enjoyment of the stay life.
