The Lake Agnes Teahouse is hidden in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta

Sure, you could brew a hot one at home, but would that leave you with a sense of accomplishment? In your parents’ day, they had to walk uphill, in the snow, back and forth to get a cup of Earl Gray – or at least that’s what they like to tell us. Show them off by visiting Alberta’s “secret” Lake Agnes Teahouse – a cozy mountain retreat that forces its visitors to really work for their herbs.

Located 3.5 kilometers from Lake Louise, Alberta is a quaint waterfront cabin (cash only) with stunning views, over 100 different teas, decadent desserts and comfort food just like mom used to make. .

The only problem? Guests will either need to rent a horse or walk, but don’t let that scare you! It can be done by almost anyone who is ready and willing to undertake a moderate hike.

To get there, simply take the Lakeshore trail from the Chateau Lake Louise hotel, keep an eye out for the Lake Agnes trail, then PASS the Plain of Six Glaciers, cross the horse trail and keep going until you see the lake Mirror.

Eventually, you’ll reach a staircase, which is the last challenge before you find the house.

Once you’ve conquered it all, take the afternoon off, enjoy the fresh air, a few cups of your favorite tea, and then head back down. This is the perfect day trip!

We promise it will literally be the best hot drink you’ve ever had.
