Volleyball’s comeback against LIU fails
BROOKLYN, NY – Bryant’s women’s volleyball team’s comeback against Long Island fell through as they claimed their first loss of the year at the NEC by a score of 3-2.

“We had a great comeback from a slow start. Riley and Mia were key players in the fight. We saw a lot of big plays and we fought through a lot of stoppage. We hope to eliminate the need for it. ‘a stronger and more focused start. “
How did it happen:
Set 1: LIU took the lead in the first set, but Bryant was able to stay close, eventually tying the score at 12. The Sharks responded with a run to take a six-point lead, and they ultimately won the set by that same margin. . Alysa Wright had four assists in the set for the Bulldogs, who totaled four blocks.
Set 2: The Bulldogs fell behind early in the second set, but came back to take a 6-5 lead. LIU responded with a 7-2 run to take the lead and won the set by eight points. Caroline Kennedy had four blocks in the set to lead Bryant.
Set 3: Similar to the second set, Bryant fell behind before rallying to take a one point lead. They managed to hold onto the lead and stood up to LIU for the remainder of the set, winning 25-21. Haley O’Brien and Riley James had four wins each for the Bulldogs in the set. Bryant also had four blocks in total.
Set 4: The fourth set featured the most ties and header changes of any sets in the match, with both teams going back and forth. LIU managed to take a late four-point lead, before Bryant used a 7-0 streak to take a 23-20 lead and ultimately win the set. Riley James had eight kills in the set for Bryant, the most of all sets in the game.
Series 5: LIU started the final set scoring the first five points, but the Bulldogs rallied to tie the score at six. LIU regained the lead and took it to four points, winning the set, 15-11. Riley James had three wins for Bryant in the set.
Bulldog Notes and Notables
Riley James had his fifth consecutive double-double, with a record 20 assists to go with 11 digs, two blocks and two assists.
Mia Cergol also achieved a double-double, finishing with 41 assists and 20 digs. It was his fourth of the season and the second in a row.
Caroline Kennedy had 11 kills and eight assists for the Bulldogs. His eight blocks tied a career high.
Bryant’s team’s 15 blocks were a season high, four more than their previous high, set against Sacred Heart. Kennedy led the team with eight assists, while Alysa Wright had seven and Haley O’Brien had five assists and a solo block.
