What new luxury hotels and resorts will open in Malaysia in 2023?
2023 will see the opening of a wave of new luxury hotels and resorts in Malaysia.
Will life return to a happy normalcy as before the pandemic by 2023? There is no certainty that will happen, but we must not refrain from entertaining such hopes that a utopia awaits us.
The pandemic has hurt tourism, but with the increase in immunization, the travel and hospitality industries are experiencing a renaissance. The luxury villas in Langkawi experienced full occupancy during the weekends. Seduced by inexpensive and frequent flights, travelers fly to the Andaman Archipelago for a well-deserved and much-delayed vacation.
In addition to the choices – because there are never enough – a chain of luxury hotels and resorts is set to open in 2023. Who are they and where are they located? Let’s find out.
Avani Kota Kinabalu
Located in the heart of Kota Kinabalu, Avani will announce its arrival in Luyang. As part of a mixed-use residential and commercial development project, including a shopping center, the hotel will occupy 12e to 37e floor with 378 rooms offering views of the South China Sea and Mount Kinabalu. Along with an all-day restaurant, gym, infinity pool, rooftop bar, and observation deck, among others, one of the hotel’s main highlights is a cigar lounge where customers can relax after a day of huffing and puffing.
DoubleTree by Hilton Damai Laut Resort
Across the Strait of Malacca from the rustic but charming island of Pangkor, DoubleTree’s final enclave, inaugurated in March 2023, sits on a vast expanse of land. Currently undergoing a transformative renovation, which will see the tired property rejuvenate to meet Hilton’s high standards, the 291-room resort will offer guests a wide range of leisure activities thanks to its 18-hole golf course and proximity to a turtle hatchery. The West Coast Expressway, which is slated to be completed by 2024, will significantly reduce the distance between Kuala Lumpur and Lumut.
Holiday Inn Kuala Lumpur Bangsar
Bangsar will soon have a hotel worthy of its status as Kuala Lumpur’s hippest neighborhood when Holiday Inn opens in 2023. Facing the bustling thoroughfare of Jalan Maarof, the 220-room hotel is a short walk from the resort Bangsar LRT. It will integrate the Holiday Inn Open Lobby concept, combining public facilities in a cohesive and conducive space. The hotel will also be equipped with an outdoor swimming pool.
Indigo Hotel on Kuala Lumpur Park
A boutique brand under the IHG banner, the Indigo Hotel will launch a new 180-room concept just steps from the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. While other hotels advocate homogeneity and expectation, no two rooms at the Hotel Indigo are alike. Travelers can expect touches encapsulating local culture while staying true to the ethos of modern luxury, marking a pleasant departure from the usual chain hotel experience. Sustainability is key and the hotel achieves this aspect by implementing rainwater harvesting, an interactive green wall and renewing energy throughout.
Kimpton Kuala Lumpur
Luxury accommodation heavyweight IHG is inaugurating Malaysia’s first-ever Kimpton at TRX, seen as Kuala Lumpur’s new beacon of economic growth. While details on the list of tenants who will welcome buyers to the Lifestyle Quarter are scarce, we already know that Kimpton Kuala Lumpur will be home to 471 symphonic rooms of a youthful yet sophisticated design that is an integral part of the brand. The property will have 3 food and beverage outlets, including a rooftop restaurant and bar and a coffee shop.
The Nautilus Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, Langkawi
It is only fitting that a resort named after a pelagic creature operates in a vacation paradise known for its powdery sands and gentle waves. Neighboring many resorts bordering Pantai Cenang, the Nautilus Resort marks the first time that Hilton has introduced the Curio collection to the country. Architecturally reminiscent of a cruise ship, the resort has 250 rooms, 3 food and beverage outlets, including an all-day restaurant, a specialty restaurant and a rooftop bar.
