Wood-fired pizza on the menu at Dundee’s Taypark House boutique hotel

Following their successful domed dining experiences, Dundee’s Taypark House has already started work on a new outdoor dining hut serving wood-fired pizzas.

With their dome more popular than ever and coronavirus restrictions lifted, owners William Salve and Glenn Roach expect a busy summer ahead.

As a result, the duo wanted to bring something new to the premises in time for the warmer weather that guests can enjoy outdoors.

They aim to create an outdoor space where customers can comfortably enjoy drinks and food.

Speaking to co-owner William Salve, he explained: “We are in the process of building an outdoor pizza oven for the summer.

“Our main objective is to eventually have a terrace with drinks available to customers.”

Located next to the outdoor gin bar, fresh pizza will be made to order from the hut. And customers can watch the chef prepare them.

Artificial grass will be placed in front of the cabana to create an area with tables and chairs for visitors to use.

It should be finished by the end of this month.

What’s on offer?

Although the menu is yet to be confirmed, William hinted at the types of pizzas that will be offered, including pepperoni and chicken options, as well as vegetarian alternatives, to give customers a choice.

All pizzas will be prepared on site from scratch using the chef’s own house recipes.

Investing in the £3-5,000 range, the outdoor cabana will be decorated with fairy lights and play music as food is served.

“We want to make it a more luxurious experience, so customers can sit outside and enjoy the music, the drinks, the pizzas and the nice weather as well,” William explained.

Dinner at the dome of Taypark House
Dining in domes was a big hit for Taypark House.

A teepee tent cover is also being installed to ensure that despite potential summer showers, guests can still enjoy the outdoor space.

There will also be the possibility of ordering pizzas to take away for those who wish to enjoy them elsewhere.

Will dining at the dome continue?

William also revealed that the popular dome dining experience will continue through the summer, however, the two experiences will remain separate.

The Dome restaurant has its own tasting menu and offers different food and drink options.
