YKHC Expanded Access To COVID-19 Booster Injections
The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation has expanded access to COVID-19 booster shots. Previously, only people who had received their second Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine more than six months ago were eligible for a booster with the same vaccine.
Last week the Centers for Disaster Control and Prevention and the United States Food and Drug Administration authorized booster doses for Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. It also approved people mixing vaccines, allowing people to be given a different booster from their initial doses.
Under the new regulations, anyone aged 18 and over who received a Johnson & Johnson vaccine just two months or more ago is eligible for a booster.
Anyone who received a Moderna or Pfizer vaccine more than six months ago is also eligible for a booster if they meet the following criteria: is 65 years of age or older, is from Alaska and is 18 years of age or older, is a healthcare worker, has a job that requires interaction with the public, or has a medical condition that could be made unsafe by a COVID-19 infection.
There are many ways to get a booster. If you are in a village, YKHC asks you to fill out this online form to request a photo shoot: https://tinyurl.com/8kb9vth.
